What Does Obligation Really Mean?

Taught by Rabbi Becky Silverstein

One way to characterize being Jewish is “living Torah” in all aspects of our lives. This requires us to recognize that the values that guide our decision-making ought to be grounded in Torah. Obligation (chiyuv) is a central value of halakha, a core guide in living Torah. Should we care about it? Why or why not? What might we learn by using the framework of obligation? How can different relationships in our lives inform that framework? Join us as we dive in and consider our relationship to Gd, Torah, Sinai, community, self, and others.
