By Heart: A Mini-Series on Recitation

This two-part workshop is designed to bring us deeper into the practice of recitation by strengthening our relationship to an ancient aspect of our tradition: direct transmission. Together we’ll explore the sacred work of drawing a text out of ourselves in order to illuminate what we know (and what we don’t know). We’ll also explore what feels difficult about recitation, and what aspects of it can lead us to feel resistance or fear. We’ll model a variety of approaches to chazara and recitation, and there will be space to question and experiment with different styles and strategies.
