What is oppressive speech and how do we respond to it? What do we do when our lived experiences are not fully addressed by the tradition we’ve inherited? Dive in with us to explore the concept of ona’at devarim, “harmful speech.” Together we’ll move with care to uncover how the Rabbis create new approaches to life and practice in their Option 3 world, complete with a party mix of kra proofs, case studies, and a healthy dose of svara.
About “All in One”: You’ll learn some of the texts we love the most: the ones that show us how the Rabbis upgrade the tradition they’ve been given and empower us to do the same! Together we’ll explore the tensions that arise when we pursue radical change (which is exactly what the Rabbis did). This learning space is for everyone, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an advanced Talmudist. You’ll be given the scaffolding and tools to be challenged at your own learning level in a rigorous and supportive environment. Each weekly session will combine chevruta learning (learning in pairs) and collective unpacking of the text in shiur (full group discussion).
