Story and Self: Telling Your Torah

Taught by Marques Hollie

Mondays, Mar. 13 – Apr. 17 | 6:30-8 PM ET | 5:30-7 PM CT | 3:30-5 PM PT | 5 Sessions (Off for Pesach on April 10)

We tell our foundational stories every year knowing exactly how they end, as if they might turn out differently. If the story doesn’t change, what does?

We do. We: the readers, the interpreters, and tellers. We uncover new possibilities, surface new questions, and find new ways to internalize that story.

Using the tools of maggidic performance, sacred imagination, and guided discussion, we’ll deconstruct meaning within stories from three acts of the Jewish canon: Rabbinic imagination, folk tales (from the shtetl and beyond!), and contemporary stories from a variety of sources. Not only will we learn from these stories, we’ll discover ways to write ourselves into them.
