Sam Cone comes from a long lineage of philanthropists and community advocates. His great-great-grandfather, Ceasar Cone, co-founded what became the world’s largest denim manufacturer after fleeing religious persecution in Germany — a legacy that continues to shape Sam’s commitment to human and civil rights.

In addition to serving clients at Cone Wealth, Sam partners with organizations that protect and expand the rights that allowed his family to flourish in the United States. Through strategic philanthropy and activism, he works to advance equity across race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. Sam believes effective philanthropy requires investing thoughtfully in organizations and policies that broaden access to human rights and public goods.

He earned his J.D. Cum Laude from NYU School of Law and holds a B.A. in mathematics and philosophy from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Distinction.
