  • A Jewish scholar, who was alive at the end of the Second Temple Era. Not only was he a rabbi, but it’s possible he was a kohen/priest as well!
  • Also referred to as Zechariah ben Abqilus, Zecharya ben Avkulas, and Amphikalos.
  • There’s a variety of wild stories about him in Talmud. In the Bavli edition of Gittin 56a, it’s told that he (somewhat indirectly) caused the fall of the second temple.
