Queer Talmud Camp 2020 Application Process

At Queer Talmud Camp, we are committed to building a multi-generational queer-normative space. Our application form is set up to give you an opportunity to share about yourself, your experiences with learning and text study, and your interest in building joyful queer community.

This summer, we’re offering four sessions of QTC:

Los Angeles | June 21-25 | Big Bear Retreat Center

Bay Area | June 28-July 2 | Walker Creek Ranch

East Coast | August 9-13 | Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center

Midwest | August 16-20 | Camp Nageela Midwest

You’ll be asked to rank your preference of which session to attend. Preferences will be taken into consideration in the admissions process, and a member of our team will reach out before admitting you to a camp that isn’t listed as your first or second choice. The deadline for priority applications is February 21, and folks who have applied by the priority deadline can expect to hear back from us by March 13. After February 21 applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, so long as there are spaces available at camp.

As a yeshiva, SVARA aspires to be radically inclusive and is committed to creating spaces that center the voices and experiences of those who have been marginalized from Jewish life and learning. In order to maintain a diverse learning community that demographically represents our wide range of learners, we have implemented an application process for Queer Talmud Camp that takes into account, among other factors,  identities that are often underrepresented. We have set a goal of maximizing the percentage of people of color, people with disabilities, and trans-femme folks at QTC.
