SVARA-nik Gallery
Whether you create pottery, noise-music, poetry, leather, experimental art, or something in between, your work is welcome.
A critical part of Talmud study is what we call “commentary”: ongoing, centuries-old dialogues that deepen our understanding of the text and our tradition.
We’re excited to launch a digital gallery to celebrate your commentary, no matter what form it takes. If you’re making art in response to the learning you do at SVARA, we want to know about it!
We hope this space will nurture y’all and create a digital home for expression, creativity, and connection.
frequently asked questions
We are calling upon our queer Talmud community to submit art that was made in response to their learning at SVARA. This includes learning a new skill in our Alef-Bet Basics offering; unpacking a tricky text with your chevruta in Queer Talmud for Beginner’s Mind; connecting with folks in an emergent program space like the Disability Justice Torah Circle; or something else!
If you’d like to submit your work to be included in the gallery, head over to this SVARA-nik Gallery submissions form! If you’re interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to Olivia ([email protected]).
Of course! Our goal is to uplift the artistic expressions of our dazzling community, which remain entirely yours by participating in the gallery.
We plan to offer several submission opportunities throughout the year! Our very first round of submissions will open on May 5th, 2023.
